We had our first snowfall yesterday and it was beautiful. I hate the cold, but I love the quiet of the snow. Yesterday there was no wind, the sun was just coming up when I took this picture of Scooter and it was really, really quiet.

Then we noticed that the snow took out a tree and about 25 feet of fence. Read more on my blog.

Speaking of "perfect", last month's special was so popular, I'm repeating it! You know how I love Karen Kay Buckley's "Perfect Scissors." Serrated blades make precision cutting easy. Large cushioned handles make precision cutting comfortable. Both the large and small sizes cut all the way to the tips. Perfect Scissors are sharpen-able and the handles are pretty too.

Get the control and the comfort you deserve with Perfect Scissors. And, get a great deal!

Until December 7th, save $5 when you get both the 4" AND the 7.5" Perfect Scissors. PLUS, get free shipping (US only) with the coupon code "perfect." GREAT gift idea!

I had a scheduled teaching job for mid-October 2012, but the dates were changed and I couldn't accommodate the new ones. So, I'm out of a job for October. My loss could be your gain. Is your guild looking for a traveling quilt teacher who has almost 30 years of teaching experience, lots of luggage, and doesn't eat much? I'm knowledgeable, reasonably entertaining, and can teach you really cool things every quilter ought to know while you think you're having fun. Tell your Program Chair to visit

Would you be interested in taking an online workshop from me? One of my most popular workshops is String Quilting. I'd like to offer some variations on the technique I teach during the "in person" workshop, starting with a String Star. Sound like fun?

I've also been playing around with rag rugs. There is a wonderful book called Rugs From Rags, written by Connie Tesene and Mary Etherington. The book would be the only requirement for the online workshop.

The price of the online workshops would be very modest, about $15. You'd be learning by looking at a combination of still pictures and videos of each step on a special blog I've set up. You would type questions to each lesson (should you have any) as a comment to the blog and I'd answer them as the workshop progressed. You would work at your own pace over several days.

Does this sound like something you would enjoy? Hit reply, or email me at and let me know your thoughts, desires, suggestions, and comments. I won't hold you to anything, I just want to see if there is interest and what would make you happy. (I apologize now if I get too many emails to answer. If everybody subscribed to my newsletter emails back I could get 18,000 emails!)

The new Beam N Read hands free lights are out! They've redesigned the strap so it's MUCH easier to adjust around your neck, and they've added a switch to activate 3 lights or all 6. Car cords and wall plugs are available too if you're not fond of batteries or want a lighter lighting experience.

I just used my new Beam N Read for the first time in the car the other night. It was great to keep my hands busy and get something accomplished. I used the "high beam" and it was terrific. (I should mention that I was a passenger, not the driver.) I felt sorry for all the other passengers on the roadů.just sitting there in the dark, looking into the bleak beyond, so sad.
